I just placed my order for the remainder of my Republican Romans. Sigh. On the one hand, "Yay! I'm finally getting a Republican Roman army!", but on the other hand, "Holy sh!t, I now have 140 new figures to paint!" The good news is that Romans aren't real tricky to paint, since they are somewhat uniform. (Yes, I know the arguments about them not having uniforms until the Marian reforms, but a more uniform Roman army "Feels" right. I'll give each unit a different shield color or something.)
BTW, I'm debating whether I should paint their clothes red, like everyone "pictures" them, or white which is probably more accurate for the time period. I'm thinking of white for the Velites and Hastati, and maybe the Principes, but red for the Triarii and Cavalry. Chain mail will be the usual grey metalic, and the other armor will be bronze drybrushed over "tin bitz".
It will probably be a week or so before they arrive, so I'll have time to get my moria goblins painted and maybe do some more work on my Andalusians, if the family doesn't demand too much of my time. We'll see.
