Apparently, asking for 5150 rules for a new line of miniatures is a good way to become the author of said rules. As I may have mentioned earlier, I grabbed a handfull of mephalians, which are these cool little guys who are a strange cross between Donaldsons' Ur viles and 40k "Kroot". In other words, they are blind little savages who have scavanged some really nasty technology from the ruins of an ancient empire's outpost on their home planet.
Mephalians apparently see through echo-location, as they have no eyes. While I'm still trying to coax details out of the figure sculptor, it appears that they have a very shamanistic society, and consider their artifacts to be both holy and a sacred connection to their homeworld.
In my mind, Mephalians would make AWESOME random encounter opponents, or even a good basis for a campaign army, though away from their homeworld it might be hard to find reenforcements, as they don't appear to have any sort of spaceflight capabilities.
So if all goes well, my write-up will appear in 5150's Book 2, which is due out sometime in the next year. This might be the second gaming product I get credits in (the first was the Jovian Chronicles rule book, and I only got credit for coming up with the "Angst/Rage" rule). I'm not quitting my day job though! ;-)
