Well, I just found out that a few old friends of mine are using Mindsay, and I've considered getting an off-LJ blog to talk about less personal and more focused topics relating to some of my interests, so here I am.
I'll probably use this space to talk about miniature games, theories about ancient peoples, and whatever else comes into my mind. I expect most of it to be relatively boring to most people, but maybe (just maybe) there's someone out there interested in the same stuff I am.
It's probably worth mentioning that I'm a complete amateur at just about everything except C++ programming and game engine coding. That doesn't mean I haven't been reading and thinking about lots of other stuff, but I'm no authority, so anything I write here is by definition just "my opinion".
I'm also a pretty liberal sort of guy politically. Actually, I'm a "liberal libertarian" - the exact opposite of a "neocon". I'm not a big fan of "You can do anything *I* like"-style legislated morality, and I'm a big believer in separation of Church and State.
Sometimes I'll feel compelled to rant against the current administration. But at the end of the day, I love this country and the people in it (arguably more than the people running it do), and I'm relatively confident that it will survive the current leadership intact.
I guess this is what the conservatives felt like during Clinton's presidency, huh? :-)
I don't however intend to use this forum for much political discussion, though nothing is carved in stone as they say.
