Well, in record time for me, I have the base coat and some highlights painted on my Uruk berserkers. I think a couple of hours of detailing and stuff, and the little guys will be ready to go. Usually, my figures sit in a box for a few months, then get cleaned and primed, then sit in the box for a few more months, then get forgotten about. :-) I'm sure it's too much to hope that this is a "new leaf" for me, but it does feel good to actually make some progress on the little fellows.
I'm not sure why I'm having such good luck getting these figures painted. I'd bet that it has something to do with the fact that they're very simple to paint. The berserkers are mostly naked, with an armored loin cloth and gauntlets and a leather "helmet". All of this stuff is various shades of brown, and the metal is very easy to do now that I know the "tin bitz + bolgun metal drybrush" trick.
So with any luck I'll have my second trio of uruks painted in the next day or two. I'm going to be trying a variation on the shading technique with an old barbarian figure I have around. (He's "Bran the Barbarian" from Reaper - no relation to my buddy Gamecoder.) I've used him for a couple of experiments, but since I've never gotten quite the right look, I keep stripping his paint. Poor guy. :-)
