So now that the post convention glow is wearing off, I'm beginning to feel the Need. The Need to Game!
To start off with, I finally picked up "Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter", which despite its name is not a GBA title. :-) This is probably the most wargame like action game I have ever played. It makes me very happy, and I can't wait for the sequel, which sounds like it will fix up the few gripes I have. Besides, the "Mexico in revolution" setting is oddly compelling to me for some reason.
In addition, now that I've had a chance to slake my Scifi thirst a little, I'm itching to do some "Ancients" gaming. The easiest path is to bust out my DBA armies, and that may be just what I do. Some Hittite on New Kingdom Egyptian action might be just what the doctor ordered! I'm also anxious to get more of my 28mm WAB stuff painted. That's a really fun game too, though in a very different way from DBA.
On the painting front, I have a secret project I'm working on for my LoTR playing nephew. It's only 2 (well, 2.5) figures, but I need to do some really aggressively good painting, so I'm naturally a little nervous to get started. My SPUGS and Hydrissians are as always in a state of partial painted-ness, and that probably needs to change. The SPUGS at least are mostly the right colors - they just need some highlighting and detail work. The Hydrissians are in much worse shape, and though fewer in numbers will require more work to finish off. I've sort of decided that I won't buy any more aliens until I get one of my old "factions" finished off, so I'd better get cracking with Christmas just around the corner!
One of the things I picked up at the con was this cool modular scifi terrain kit. Man, I had NO IDEA just how many tiny little pieces were in that kit. All of them need to be clipped from their sprues, and a good half of them require some glue before they can be used. In the end, I think it will be well worth it though, and I'll have "gamer legos" to build bunkers, space ship interiors, refineries, etc. Very handy.
